Not only the most advanced, high-tech devices are needed to cure, simpler things can also save lives. Such are for example the masks, which protect us from infecting each other accidentally, during an epidemy.
However, since the outbreak of COVID-19 there has been a critical shortage of this basic protective equipment – even among hospital employees who are working “in the front line” every day and are consequently exposed directly to the risk of infection. With this, not only do they risk their own health, but as asymptomatic carriers they also infect their fragile patients.
Lack of masks in hospitals and social institutions represent a serious health hazard. For this reason, the Jakabovics Tibor Foundation negotiated for weeks with numerous suppliers worldwide, sparing no expenses or efforts in finding masks of appropriate quality.
Thanks to this, the Kanottai Dorottya Hospital in Nagykanizsa, to which the Tibor Jakabovics Foundation donated earlier a laparoscope, has been supplied with medical face masks and FFP2 respirators, sufficient for long weeks. The Foundation will soon donate medical masks and respirators to other hospitals from the county of Zala as well, like for example to the Hospital in Keszthely and to other institutions where they are needed.
Simultaneously, the Foundation began manufacturing reusable face masks, thus opening new opportunities for those who have lost their jobs because of the epidemic.
